I knew this fight wasn’t over yet. Very nice update. Random Thoughts:
The High Mistress could still be waiting in the wings, probably rather annoyed by now at having to clean up after yet another failure. She may even wait until after the Symbiote is finished doing whatever she has planned for the Director.
I think a possible wildcard could be Evelyn. It’s been (checks first panel) six months since she was left with the Invader, which itself is built out of the Symbiote’s substance. Evelyn became improbably powerful when engulfed by the Symbiote as a result of the genetic modifications the Director subjected her to. Assuming she hasn’t died of dehydration, it’s remotely possible even with the, shall we say, limited contact patch between Evelyn and the Invader, that Evelyn’s genetic mods might have been able, over a period of six months, to slowly take over the Invader. And she would have a bone to pick with *both* the Director and the Symbiote.
(BTW, the Symbiote presents as female, but presumably it could present any way it wants. Does it identify as female, or are human gender concepts meaningless to it?)
